Bandit Films’ short The Curse premieres at Galway 2026

In 2014 the poet and novelist Dermot Healy passed away. A decade before he and Johnny Gogan had adapted Dermot’s short story The Curse. Nearly twenty five years after its planned production, the film will premiere 8th July in the Goin’ Out West section of the Galway Film Fleadh. The film features 14 year old Finn O’Hara in the lead and a strong supporting cast including Alan Devine, John Carty, Orla McSharry and Ciarán McCauley. Niall Flynn shot and Amy O’Hara designed. The film was made possible by the support of Leitrim Development Company.
