Na Coisithe (The Footsteps)
//
Johnny has been collecting many testimonies on the life of Liam S. Gogan, his grandfather, for the past two years. The poet and lexicographer who took a major hand in the production of the celebrated 1927 Dineen dictionary was the subject of a wide-ranging tv interview shortly before his death in 1979. Among the areas covered in this interview were his construction of the word Poblacht which Sean MacDiarmada had sought from him for inclusion in the headline text of the 1916 proclamation. Financing is from TG4 and the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland. Due for completion in May 2009, the film has been shot in Ireland and various locations in Germany and Holland. Interviewees include poet Louis de Paor, critic Máirín Nic Eoin, and writer and academic Prof Pól ÓDochartaigh. The film has been invited to this year's Imram Literary Festival.
